Overview
My name is Damianne R President, and I’m a curious problem solver in Prague, Czech Republic. I have worked in education since 2003, but my skills and abilities are not limited to education. I love to share what I know and what I’m learning through my professional and personal blogs, on Twitter, and Google+.
The Longer Version
I was born in St. Lucia, and moved to Canada right before I entered the teenage years. At this point, I’ve spent most of my life living in countries all over the world. I lived in St. Lucia, Ottawa, Bangalore, Khartoum, and Nagoya, before moving to Prague.
I have an analytical mind, and enjoy problem-solving and working with numbers. In my leisure time, you may find me baking, experimenting with new ingredients. I’ve done this since childhood, and it wasn’t uncommon for me to invite all the neighborhood children over to share in my latest creations. I treasure my grandmother’s macaroni and cheese (from scratch) recipe and her pound cake recipe, which she would always make for me whenever I went back home for a visit. Nowadays, I like to experiment with new ingredients. I belong to a book club to help me think more deeply about books that I read. I do Crossfit 3-4 times a week, and sometimes go running. I do not enjoy running (yet), but I hope to someday. I’m also a podcast freak!
This year, I’m trying something new. I’m not working full-time. I’m working on some independent projects, being more active, revisiting programming, which I haven’t done with any focus for several years. I want to explore my other interests and maybe even discover new ones! Suggestions welcome!
I’ve taught Maths and Computer Science, as well as worked as a technology integrationist/coach. I graduated from University of Ottawa with a B.Sc. in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science. Years later, I completed an M.Ed. with a focus in Information Technology at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
