Reflecting on the Morning at LBC10

Round table discussion with Gordon Worley

What do I need to know more about

  • how to effectively prune my network
  • how to build strong relationships within the school community (with colleagues and administrators)
  • what is the role of online learning in education

Specific insights

  • even if we’re at high performing schools, we may need to do better for those kids who are not yet high performing
  • Don’t jump from tool to tool but choose a tool and stick to it until you find a new tool that will transform teaching/learning
  • it’s important to prioritize your involvement and your engagement with technology tools so that you’re making the best use of your time and sticking to your priorities (Makes me thing of the time video.)
  • I don’t know everything but I’m connected to a lot of smart people that (collectively) seem to know everything

Actions/Next steps

  • Get relational intelligence book

What I learned from others at the roundtable …

  • The One Percent Doctrine book recommended by Scott McLeod to shed light on why schools have become so restrictive particularly since 9/11
  • How do you support teachers to meet your mission/vision?
